Clam Jam

Today was the day of the famous Clam Jam event! Everyone from Freshman to Seniors attended. It's really amazing how many people showed up. To call it crazy would be an understatement. Thanks to The Bunny the music was pumping and everyone was having a great time! Pier 7, our little beach house, got completely trashed but I have to say, it was well worth it.Overall, it was a great success and a highlight of the year in my book.

Fiction

Tonight I went to an event in which I was reading an excerpt from a story I wrote in my fiction class. The story was called The Other Woman. It was the first time I'd ever done anything like that. I am kind of shy when it comes to sharing my writing with other people. It definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone but I'm so happy I did it!

Interview

Today was the day of my interview. It went very well! It's incredible how much better I felt knowing I was as prepared as I could be. I'm ready for anything that comes my way and very excited about the future :).

Set Fire to the Rain

This must have been the longest day of my semester so far. It was literally painful to wake up at 6am this morning and commute into the city. Not to mention having to rush back for my 7pm presentation. Nightmare.
The only saving grace is that I have the Adele CD in my car to keep me motivated. I kid you not, without her I'm not sure I could have gotten through today with the way I was feeling. Especially the song Set Fire to the Rain, it inspires me. No joke, I sing it at the top of my lungs, all alone in my car. I have no shame.
:)
What motivates you?

Long Week Ahead

This week is going to be a tough one. I have my internship on Tuesday, a marketing presentation Tuesday night, an interview on Wednesday, a Biology class on Wednesday, my internship on Thursday, a paper due on Friday, a Fiction reading presentation Friday night, a paper due on Sunday and an oral presentation on Sunday.
WHEW. I'm sure I left out some things too!
Needless to say, it's going to be chaos.
Luckily, on my drive back to Fairfield from Boston, a bird pooped on Justin's Tiguan. That's good luck right? Actually, I think it pooped twice. Double good luck? I hope so!

Hoppy Easter!

Today was a beautiful day to celebrate Easter. At last it has begun to look a little like Spring. The weather was just warm enough, the flowers are starting to bloom and I'm thrilled I didn't need to wear a jacket.
Happy Easter Everyone!

The Friendly Toast

Justin and I woke up really in the mood for pancakes, so we decided to give The Friendly Toast a try. Justin had heard a lot of buzz about the restaurant and and the delicious breakfast options. The decor was really quirky and eclectic. There were all sorts of funky gadgets and art pieces adorning the walls.
It was really crowded but we were able to grab a seat at the bar. The menu was quite elaborate, making it hard for me to make a decision. I eventually decided on the Pumpkin Pancakes and the Herb Omelet. Justin had the Coconut Pancakes and the New Hampshire's Finest Omelet. To our surprise the one pancake order delivered a pancake bigger than my head. It was a ton of food but we were excited about the potential leftovers.
The food was incredible. I especially liked the pumpkin pancakes. They were warm and had gooey chocolate pieces in scattered throughout. They were amaaaaaaaaaaaazing.
It was a great start, to a great day.

Sleeeeeeeeeeeeeep

I slept in this morning. I don't think I got out of bed until 2p.m.
For those who know me that is as likely as a lunar eclipse.
I honestly can't remember the last time I slept in past 10a.m. and let me tell you, it felt gooooooooooooooooooooooooood!
Just knowing I had nothing to do, no work, no obligations and especially no alarm clock really helped me relax.

It's a wonder what a difference getting 8 hours of sleep a night as opposed to 5 or 6 can do for your energy and overall mood.

That being said, I really didn't do much else for the rest of the day. It was perfect. I ate, I napped, I watched a movie and I spent time with Justin. I loved every minute.

Delays

After work today I headed straight for Boston to enjoy a long weekend with Justin to celebrate Easter. Unfortunately, my train was delayed an HOUR, so I had a lot of down time. I amused myself with a People Magazine and the new solitare game I downloaded on my phone.
After a long day of traveling, I finally made it and couldn't be happier to be in Boston!

Whatdaya know?

Well whaaaatdaaaaayaaaaa know? Right when I get a little confidence boost and start applying, I land my first interview! I'm not going to give away any details just yet but I'm extremely excited about this opportunity. That's all I'll say for now ;) I don't want to jinx anything!!

I saw this quote the other day that really resonated with me..."I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it."  ~Thomas Jefferson

In other words, when you work hard, you see results. AMEN to that.

Work It

Tuesday was great. I had lunch a wonderful lunch with the executive marketing director at O magazine, Stefanie Manning. She gave me tons of great advice and that last bit of confidence I needed to really "get the ball rolling" in the job search arena. I'm so lucky to have such smart and supportive women around me.

Apologies

I apologize everyone. I've been really slacking with my blog posts. I've gone from trying to relay interesting happenings in my day, motivational messages and inspiring stories to blogging about how bored and miserable I am.
Truth be told, things have been a little stressful for me recently. Graduation is approaching quickly and I feel completely unprepared. The job search is giving me daily anxiety attacks and I just want to hit the pause button. Obviously, this stress is all relative. Others are dealing with much more severe stresses. All of the natural disasters occurring around the world for example, my stress is nothing compared to those suffering right now. Compared to them,  my issues are entirely insignificant.
Having said that, the point is, I'll try to do much better! Mostly because I want to look back on this year long blog experiment and remember positive things. The things I've learned, how I've grown and other corny ideas of that nature.

Hope everyone is having a fabulous Monday!

Disney Princess

Life would be so much easier if I could just be a Disney princess. Yes, Rapunzel was locked in a tower but she had great hair. Not to mention, she eventually meets the man of her dreams, discovers she's a princess and lives happily ever after. Jealous.

Mock Wedding

After the antics at the Bachelorette party on Thursday night...

I could only imagine what the Mock Wedding Ceremony would bring... let's just say...it did not disappoint. Despite the weather, I think everyone had a great time.

The reception was a lot of fun and the food wasn't too shabby! In the end, it all came together and it was a nice to see everyone celebrate one of the last big events of senior year together!

Fridays

I have really changed my outlook on Fridays. It used to be the night I had to go out no matter what because it was the beginning of the weekend blah blah blah you get the picture. Now, it's more of a rest after Thursday, prepare for Saturday type of day. It was a nice change.

Back On Track

After a pretty depressing Tuesday, I decided I had to get back on track. Plus, my horoscope told me I should...so I listened.
In the wise words of William E. Hickson and a whole bunch of other people, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try again."

Wednezzzzzzzzzzzday

Wednesdays and I have a love hate relationship. I love Wednesday because it feels like the one day in my week I get to relax. I normally sleep in, go to class and spend the rest of the day in bed. Other things I like about Wednesdays are American Idol and America's Next Top Model. I think it's important to take time to rest and rejuvenate. But how much is too much time? What I don't like about Wednesdays are pretty much the same things I like about it. At the days end I feel I've accomplished nothing and been extremely lazy. What to do, what to do.

Shop Shop Shop

Justin and I went to the Stamford mall to do a little shopping today. First, we stopped in sunglass hut to get Justin a new pair of Ray Bans. Thanks to me, we picked the perfect pair ;). I must say, he looks great in them! On our way to Zara, I spotted Bare Minerals. I've been wanting to try out some of their makeup for awhile. Lucky for me, they were doing a promotional makeup application and had discounts on the products they were using. Of course, I jumped right in. Justin was less than amused but he kept himself busy taking silly pictures of me and cracking jokes with the makeup artists. After my makeover, we headed to Zara. I filled my arms with great potential excited about the Spring collection. Justin was not as thrilled but did browse the men's section. In the end, Justin was the only one that ended up getting anything! I was too overwhelmed and promised myself I'd come back when I had more time. Nonetheless, it was a successful shopping day!

The Special

Justin got into Fairfield pretty late tonight. We wanted to find a place to watch the game and get some late night food. Meaning, he wanted to find a place to watch the Red Sox game and I was hungry. We drove to a couple different places but all the restaurants kitchens were closed. Fairfield on a Sunday night is comparable to a ghost town. There's not a person in sight and everything is closed down. Well, almost everything. A bartender at the Southport Brewery suggested we try Archie Moores.  Sure enough, they were still serving and we were able to get a table right next to a TV. Justin ordered the wings and some sort of meat panini. I decided on the special. It seemed to be a mexican inspired dish. It contained rice, steak, mushrooms, cheese, peppers etc. Lets just say, there's a reason why they aren't a mexican restaurant. Next time, I'll stick to the wings.

I Love Brunch

This afternoon Sam, Elena, Rayana, Steph and I went to Greenhouse Grille for my favorite meal of the day, brunch! It was such a lovely day outside. The sunlight was beaming in through the windows of the restaurant, creating a cheerful environment for all the brunch goers. I had so much fun catching up with the girls, I really didn't want the meal to end! What a great way to start my day :)

Jury Duty

Yesterday at about 10pm I realized that I had to serve jury duty this morning. I had no idea what to expect and was a little nervous. Yes people, I even read the pamphlet sent to me in the mail. With my luck, I was sure I'd be asked to participate in a month long murder trial.
Anyway, today I woke up early and drove to the Bridgeport Courthouse. Sure enough, I was in the first pool of selected jurors to serve in a four day to week long trial concerning insurance. About fifteen of us were led into a small room where we waited to enter the courtroom. After being sworn in, we were all briefed about the case. We were told to listen carefully to the names being mentioned and at the end raise our hands if we knew anyone involved. The second round of questioning was to find out if anyone had conflicting schedules and/or urgent reasons why they could not serve on the jury. Obviously, I raised my hand. As cool as it would have been, serving in a four day trial with school and an internship to worry about would not be a good idea. After this we were all led back into the waiting room. All of those who knew people involved in the case and were not able to serve were called one by one into the courtroom for further questioning. When my name was called I had to walk into the courtroom, sit on the witness stand, and tell them why I could not be a member of the jury. After a few seconds, I was excused! Woo hoo! It was easy and  painless. I was nervous for nothing! Actually, I don't think it would be half bad serving as a juror. In fact, it would be really cool!

Blueberry Cheesecake

Today, I applied for my first job. I felt like it deserved some sort of celebration, so on my way to Verizon, I stopped at Tasti D-Lite for a treat. Out of 500 flavors, I chose the Blueberry Cheesecake with blueberries on top. To be honest, it didn't compare to Pinkberry, but it did the trick. :)

Sick and Tired

I saw this quote on a sticker today and absolutely loved it.
"Stop for a second and consider this: you can literally do whatever the fuck you want."

Today was hard. I feel sick. I'm tired.

Time to Go

After an amazing weekend with Justin, it was time to say goodbye. I miss him already.

My Perfect Day

Eight months ago today, Justin asked me to be his girlfriend! To be honest, we both had no idea if we would even make it past the first week in September but we proved to ourselves and everyone else that we absolutely could. Although the distance hasn't always been easy, there's no denying he has made me a very, very happy girl. In fact, I've never been happier. I have no idea why we placed such emphasis on celebrating 8 months but we both agreed it felt right.
To celebrate we woke up relatively early and headed to our favorite brunch spot, Burtons. We shared the pancake special and a customized omelet. The pancakes were a delectable, espresso, chocolate chip flavor. Hands down, the best pancakes I've ever had. After brunch, we decided to do something outside. It was 60 degrees and sunny! Justin suggested we drive to Cape Cod. I'd never been and have always wanted to go. We drove to Chatham, a town recommended by my friend Kim who lives on the Cape. She was right, it was the perfect place to visit for a couple hours. I was in heaven walking on the beach, driving through the town (with the sunroof open) and taking in my beautiful surroundings.
For dinner Justin made reservations at the Top of the Hub. It was very special because the Top of the Hub is where we went on our very first date. We only went for drinks the first time, so this would be a new experience for us. We took the elevator in the Prudential Center all the way up to the top floor. Justin requested a table by the windows so we could see the spectacular view of the Boston skyline. All the lights of Boston sparkled against the dark sky. The view was breathtaking. After an exquisite meal and a couple glasses of a celebratory Rose, I felt completely content. It was the perfect end to a truly memorable day.
Happy eight months babe, I love you!

Boston to see my babe!

Today, I took the train to Boston to see Justin. I haven't seen him in a quite awhile, so I was really excited to finally spend some time with him. As expected, we had a wonderful night together. Although the time away was hard, it made our reunion even sweeter!

First Day of April

I truly can't believe it's already April. Where has the year gone? I can't believe I graduate in a little over a month. Cue panic attack.
